35+ Pregnancy

It's official: 35 is the new 25! If you're embarking on a pregnancy in your empowered prime, you're definitely not alone - today, almost 1 in 5 pregnant people are age 35 and up!

Like anything else, 35+ pregnancy has its advantages and drawbacks. One thing in particular to be aware of is that there is an increased risk of stillbirth in 35+ parents, both for first-timers and those who have given birth before.

That being said, your overall risks are still very low - and you're already one step ahead by empowering yourself with stillbirth prevention tips!

More tailored information to come, but in the meantime, check out this incredibly thorough article on Advanced Maternal Age (they must mean "advanced" as in ahead-of-the-pack/refined/brilliant, right? And don't even get us started on the g-word! Geriatric schmeriatric...) from Evidence Based Birth.

PS - Even if you don't *quite* hit that 35+ cutoff, you may want to consider requesting additional testing/care, which has been shown to improve outcomes in the near-35 maternal age group!

More coming soon!
